It's December 2nd, and the trees are up, the lights are...in process! Holiday parties are already booked, and we have a pretty good idea how busy our little culinary tribe will be for the rest of the month.
Planning is more than half the battle, so we start thinking about holidays and Christmas parties in June. So what's on the menu? It varies from year to year...some folks like to be very traditional, with prime rib or turkey and ham, cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes. Family gatherings tend to be the most traditional, with family recipes (and the stories that go with them) making the centerpiece of the meal.
Of course, something different can be very welcome, especially for business functions or more casual gatherings. For those wanting something festive and "holiday-ish" that is definitely NOT turkey, what to do?
